Terms of Service

Last updated: 2 October 2026

Draft. This document is a starting point and has not yet been reviewed by a solicitor. It will be finalised following legal review.

1. Who we are

Subtitles for Clips (“we”, “us”, “the Service”) is an online service operated from the United Kingdom that generates subtitle files from audio and video uploads using automated speech recognition. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms.

2. The Service

You upload an audio or video file, we transcribe it using an AI speech-recognition provider, and you download the resulting subtitle file. Transcription is automated: accuracy depends on audio quality, language, and accents, and we do not guarantee that output is error-free or fit for any particular purpose. You are responsible for reviewing subtitles before publishing them.

3. Your account

You must provide accurate information when signing up and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. An account is for one person: do not share your sign-in. Each account can be signed in on up to two devices at once; signing in on another signs out the oldest. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.

4. Your content

You keep all rights to the files you upload and the subtitles we generate from them. You grant us a limited licence to process your files solely to provide the Service — that is, to transmit them to our speech-recognition provider and return subtitles to you.

Uploaded media files are processed transiently: they are discarded once transcription completes and are not stored on our servers afterwards. Signed-in uploads retain the original generated SRT when recording succeeds, along with job metadata (file name, file size, duration, and processing status), for upload history and usage records. See our Privacy Policy for details.

You must only upload content you have the right to use. Do not upload content that is unlawful, infringes someone else’s rights, or contains other people’s personal data without a lawful basis to process it.

5. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use the Service for anything unlawful, or to create subtitles for content that is unlawful;
  • attempt to probe, overload, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its infrastructure;
  • circumvent plan limits, upload caps, or usage metering (for example by automating uploads across multiple free accounts);
  • resell or sublicense the Service without our agreement.

6. Private beta and Enterprise enquiries

Existing private-beta access remains free. There is no charge, and we do not ask for payment details. We may set fair-use limits on how much you can process each month, and we will tell you before any limit starts to apply to you.

Enterprise enquiries are open. From $1,250 USD / month. Final pricing, included seats, usage terms, onboarding timing and cancellation terms will be agreed before purchase. Organisation owners and admins can invite and remove members. A removed member keeps their own account and history. See Enterprise pricing.

Sending an enquiry or using the beta does not start a paid subscription. The website does not currently offer self-service Enterprise checkout.

7. Availability and changes to the Service

We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features, and we rely on third-party providers (speech recognition, payments, hosting) whose availability we do not control.

8. Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, or loss of data arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

9. Termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms. On termination, your account data is deleted in line with our Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. For material changes we will give notice by email or in the app before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
